Good-Night "Eddy" Miller
I met Ed Miller not long after I joined IBM in 2001. It was my job to work with him so he understood the strategies of IBM’s 3D CAD and PDM products at the time. CIMData had coined the term cPDM or collaborative product data management. Some say this eventually turned into Product Lifecycle Management or PLM. Either way, its the design and development aspect of the end-to-end supply chain and a critical piece.
I was introduced to Ed via Rishi Madabusi, my colleague at the time and expert in this space - Rishi also passed on several years ago. And Rishi, in his British-India accent introduced him as Eddy Miller. I think he was the only person to refer to him this way.
Anyhow, from that day on a built a strong working partnership with Ed and CIMdata that continued for 10 years. CIMdata played a big role in helping me get the word out about the benefits of the IBM solutions through the press, whitepapers and at various conferences.
Ed was a real professional and one of the hardest working president’s in the business. Always reachable and always attending industry conferences.
Here is a video I found on YouTube in 2008:
